A cold breath of Jahannam

Image
Praise be to Allaah, we seek His help and His forgiveness. We seek refuge with Allaah from the evil of our own souls and from our bad deeds. Whomsoever Allaah guides will never be led astray, and whomsoever Allaah leaves astray, no one can guide. I bear witness that there is no god but Allaah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. Bismillah Walhamdulillah Was Salaatu Was Salaam 'ala Rasulillah As-Salaam Alaikum Wa-Rahmatullahi Wa-Barakatuhu A Cold Breath of Jahannam by Asma bint Shameem Last week, it was extremely cold.... cold beyond imagination. It was so cold, they said these were temperatures we havent seen in more than a decade. Pipes froze and burst, many people lost electricity and many even died. There was ice everywhere...ice on the cars, ice on the trees, ice on the on the grass. When the arctic wind blew, it cut through to the bone. It hit across the face and numbed whatever it touched. And as I felt the chilling effects of these below-free

Beware of Iblees {satan}'s plans

Iblis (Satan) organised an international conference, which was attended by his followers from all over the world. In his opening address, he said: “Oh my friends and helpers, we cannot stop righteous, pious people - believers in Allah, from going to the mosques. We cannot stop them from reading their Holy Book and familiarising themselves with the Truth. We cannot stop them from establishing a deep and meaningful relationship with Allah. But remember, if they are successful in establishing this relationship with their Rubb, we will lose our hold on them. Remember, Allah has told me about them:“Indeed, over My (believing) servants there is for you no authority.” “So let them go to their place of worship and let them continue with their normal routine. But snatch one thing away from them - their time . Then they will not be able to establish the required connection with their Creator. This is what I want you to do. O my followers, make them inattentive and careless in achieving that clos

Be Careful during the Sacred Month of Muharram

Bismillah Walhamdulillah Was Salaatu Was Salaam 'ala Rasulillah As-Salaam Alaikum Wa-Rahmatullahi Wa-Barakatuhu Alhamdulillah we are into an other hijri year - 1431 Just as the devout Muslim eagerly awaits any chance to earn good deeds and gain Allaahs Good Pleasure, and is careful not to transgress any boundaries, we should prepare ourselves for the coming of the month of Muharram. This is because Muharram is one of the four months that are SACRED in the eyes of Allah. “Verily, the number of months with Allaah is twelve (in a year): It was so ordained, by Allaah on the Day when He created the heavens and the earth; of them, four are sacred. That is the right religion, so wrong not yourselves therein…” [al-Tawbah 9:36] These four months, according to the Prophet (pbuh) are Dhul-Qadah, Dhul-Hijjah, Muharram and Rajab. (Bukhaari) Be EXTRA CAREFUL about SINS this Month Due to its sacredness, any bad deeds done during the sacred months are WORSE than in other months. Qutaadah sa

How to Weep for The Fear of Allah

Bismillah Walhamdulillah Was Salaatu Was Salaam 'ala Rasulillah As-Salaam Alaikum Wa-Rahmatullahi Wa-Barakatuhu by Sheikh Muhammed Salih Al-Munajjid Islam-QA.com You should note that the Muslim can accustom himself to weep for fear of Allaah, by doing the following: Making yourself feel fear of Allaah. This weeping is the fruit of beneficial knowledge, as al-Qurtubi says in his commentary on the verse (interpretation of the meaning): "And they fall down on their faces weeping." [al-Isra' 17:109] This is an eloquent description of them and praise for them. It is the duty of everyone who acquires knowledge to reach this level, so that when he hears the Quraan he is filled with fear and humility. Reading the Quraan and pondering its meanings Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): "Say (O Muhammad to them): Believe in it (the Quraan) or do not believe (in it). Verily, those who were given knowledge before it, when it is recited to them, fall down on their

Do you HATE someone ?

Bismillah Walhamdulillah Was Salaatu Was Salaam 'ala Rasulillah As-Salaam Alaikum Wa-Rahmatullahi Wa-Barakatuhu orginally posted by Nazia Fareen Do you hate someone ? Do you really hate someone ? You havent spoken to him for a while ? You have been blaming him ? You are not the only one; the Muslim Ummah today is diseased with this to the extent that almost every Muslim knows another Muslim who he hates. The Ummah is like a building with the Muslims as it is bricks, brotherhood is the cement. Without forgiveness you cannot have brotherhood. OK then, he wronged you. He deceived you. He backbited you. He lied to you. But even in these extreme situations the Quraan and the Hadith teach us that we have to forgive others (especially those who hurt us the most) if we wish to earn the forgiveness of Allah on the day of judgement. We have all committed many sins, made many mistakes and no doubt we have wronged others, we have deceived others, we have backbited others and no doubt we have

Virtues of 10 days of dhul-hijjah

Praise be to Allaah Who has created Time and has made some times better than others, some months and days and nights better than others, when rewards are multiplied many times, as a mercy towards His slaves. This encourages them to do more righteous deeds and makes them more eager to worship Him, so that the Muslim renews his efforts to gain a greater share of reward, prepare himself for death and supply himself in readiness for the Day of Judgement. This season of worship brings many benefits, such as the opportunity to correct one’s faults and make up for any shortcomings or anything that one might have missed. Every one of these special occasions involves some kind of worship through which the slaves may draw closer to Allaah, and some kind of blessing though which Allaah bestows His favour and mercy upon whomsoever He will. The happy person is the one who makes the most of these special months, days and hours and draws nearer to his Lord during these times through acts of worship;

Do you smoke ?

by Sameh Strauch http://www.islaam.com/Article.aspx?id=362 Smoking was discovered by the Spanish conquistadors in America, about 500 years ago; from Spain, it spread to the rest of Europe, and also to the Muslim world about 100 years later. Unfortunately, while the West has long realized the dangers of smoking and attempted to reduce it, in the Muslim lands, it has spread with little or no interference. Early Muslim scholars, confronted with this obnoxious habit, declared it to be makrooh (detested), comparing it with such things as garlic and onions. This was due to the fact that, at that time, none was aware of the harmful effects produced by smoking, which include, cancer, heart disease, strokes, miscarriages and premature birth in women and several other diseases. Since it has become clear that smoking is harmful, it is obligatory upon all Muslims to abstain from it, for Allaah has said: { And do not kill yourselves, Allaah is indeed Merciful to you } (Soorah 4:29), And the Prophet

'A blatant lie is… a rumor circulating among the people.

1. 'A blatant lie is… a rumor circulating among the people.' Ibn Mas`Ă»d relates that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Should I tell you what is a blatant lie? It is a rumor circulating among the people." [SahĂ®h Muslim (2606)] Here the Prophet (peace be upon him) is telling us how evil it is to spread rumors. The Arabic word for rumor here is namĂ®mah. It is a kind of rumor that is meant to foster animosity between people. Al-Râghib al-IsfahânĂ® defines the word namĂ®mah as follows [al-Nihâyah (5/120)]: It is to relate to people what others say about them in order to bring about problems. It is said that this rumor-mongering also includes divulging secrets and exposing about people what they wish to keep concealed. It is a serious sin to go back and forth between people with rumors of what they are saying about each other and what they are scheming to do. Hudhayfah heard about a man who was spreading rumors and he said: "I heard Allah's Messeng

Hold that Tongue

All praise is for Allah; we praise Him, seek His aid and forgiveness. We seek refuge with Allah from the evil of our souls and from the wickedness of our actions. Whosoever Allah guides, then none can misguide him and whosoever Allah misguides, then none can guide him. Here's an extract of an article by Muhammad Al-Shareef related to gheebah{backbiting} and it's remedies. Gheebah as we know is a widespread spirtual disease amongst us. I was looking for it's remedies, as sometimes we are amongst them who are indulged in gheebah. Found this article worth sharing. Here it is. One of the biggest and evilest wreckers of this compassion, love and brotherhood is backbiting. The word in Arabic is Gheebah, coming from the root: Gha-Yaa-Baa, meaning that which is unseen. When a Muslim sees his brother or sister committing a sin, without advising them directly, they go to others - when they are unseen by the specified brother or sister - and speak ill of them in their absence. Keys to Happiness

Liked this article very much Happiness is the only goal on earth that all people without exception are seeking to attain. Believers and unbelievers alike seek to be happy, but each party is using different methods. However, only believers can achieve genuine happiness. All forms of happiness attained without a firm belief in God, the Almighty, are mere illusions. The following are tips for the attainment of happiness: 1. Know that if you do not live within the scope of today, your thoughts will be scattered, your affairs will become confused, and your anxiety will increase. These realities are explained in the following hadith: “When you are in the evening, do not expect to see the morning, and when you are in the morning, do not expect to see the evening.” (Saheeh Al-Bukhari) 2. Forget the past and all that it contained. Being absorbed in things that are past and gone is sheer lunacy. 3. Do not be preoccupied with the future because the future is in the world of the unse

Some Common Mistakes in Ramadaan

Lets Strive Not to Repeat the Same. By Asma bint Shameem 1 : Taking Ramadaan as a ritual : For many of us Ramadaan has lost its spirituality and has become more of a ritual than a form of Ibaadah. We fast from morning to night like a zombie just because everyone around us is fasting too. We forget that its a time to purify our hearts and our souls from all evil....we forget to make dua, forget to beseech Allaah to forgive us and ask Him to save us from the Fire. Sure we stay away from food and drink but that's about all. Although the Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam) said: “Jibreel said to me, May Allaah rub his nose in the dust, that person to who Ramadaan comes and his sins are not forgiven, and I said, Ameen. Then he said, May Allaah rub his nose in the dust, that person who lives to see his parents grow old, one or both of them, but he does not enter Paradise (by not serving them) and I said, Ameen. Then he said, May Allaah rub his nose in the dust, that person in whos
