When the real Volcano blows ---

Image
Bismillah Walhamdulillah Was Salaatu Was Salaam 'ala Rasulillah by Asma bint Shameem Millions of passengers stranded across the globe, families desperate to return home... thousands upon thousands of flights canceled causing chaos across the world..... Billions of dollars lost by the airline industry as airspace across Europe shut down.... the economy, of not only a major continent, but the entire world affected...all in a matter of just a few days. Food supplies ran short as fresh produce rotted in cargo. Health officials issued warnings concerning public health, while experts worried about severe weather worldwide. And why? All because a volcano, only a mile and a half wide in size, somewhere way up north, let out its steam and ashes. Subhaan Allaah! Could you ever imagine that something like this, taking place thousands of miles away from your home, could actually disrupt your life and plans? Yet the ripple effect of its massive ash cloud reverberated worldwide and literally

Repentance

All praise is for Allah; we praise Him, seek His aid and forgiveness. We seek refuge with Allah from the evil of our souls and from the wickedness of our actions. Whosoever Allaah guides, then none can misguide him and whosoever Allaah misguides, then none can guide him Excerpts from: Nida al Mu'minin fi'i Quran al Mubin The Call to the Believers in the Clear Quran, by Shaikh Ahmad Fathu'llah Jami O you who truly believe, Turn to Allah in repentance- In sincere repentance! (tawbatan nasuha) It may be that your Lord will acquit you Of your evil deeds, And will admit you into Gardens Underneath which rivers flow, On the day when Allah will not abase the Prophet And those who believe with him. Their light will run before them And on their right hands. They will say: “Our Lord, Perfect our light for us, and forgive us! You are surely capable of all things”. (66:8) According to Umar ibn al-khattab, Ubayy ibn ka’b and Mu’adh (May Allah be pleased with them): “ When repentance i

Seventeen benefits of tribulation

Excerpted from Shaykh Hamza Yusuf's Lecture 1. You realize the power of Lordship over you 2 . You realize your abject servanthood and your complete state of resignation and brokenness before the Will & Power of Allah 3. Sincerity to Allah because you have no place of return in putting off or defending against the calamities except to Him 4. You return to Allah and are suddenly fervent in your desire of your Lord 5. It leads to a humbled state before Allah and more prayers through which you’re calling on Allah 6. You’re forbearing towards the one who has afflicted you (you gain the ability to show forbearance) 7. You get to forgive someone (“and Allah loves those who pardon others”). It is the greatest forgiveness when you forgive people who have caused you great calamities 8. You are patient during the tribulation (“and Allah is with the patient ones”) 9. You can become happy about what’s happening because you’re thinking about all these benefits 10 . You can be grateful

Dr Israr Ahmed (Rehmatullah Alayh) Tribute

We lost a great scholar, educator, historian. I was amongst those 1000s who were in shock to receive this news.It was tough to express as it was indeed a personal loss for me. He was a source whom i trusted to gain knowledge. My tribute to this great legend who was a source of guidance to many muslims. Whose speeches reached the hearts of millions --. His heavy voice with great command did revolutionise our lives. Infact he connected people to Allah by explaining the Word of Allah ! Though the source of gaining knowledge thru Dr.sahab is been closed, yet his writings, lectures shall always refresh our faith. May the knowledge he left, always be a source of reward to him. May Allah swt, reward him with Jannat - ul - firdaus. Ameen Ya Rabbul alameen.

Ayyub: An Example of Faith and Patience

The story of Ayub (Job) gives consolation to all those who are ill or deprived of wealth or children. The angels were discussing the conditions of mankind, their obedience anddisobedience. One of them said that Ayub was the best man on earth. He was an obedient believer, always praying to Allah. Allah blessed Ayub to be wealthy for eighty years. During this time he never forgot to worship or thank Allah. He shared his wealth with the poor and clothed the naked. Satan could not believe that there was a servant as sincere as Ayub. Satan thought that his wealth was the reason for his sincerity, so he asked Allah for power to take away Ayub's wealth with the intentions to mislead him. He reacted to his lost by saying that the wealth belongs to Allah and I thank him for what he has granted me and I thank .him for what he has taken. He then kneeled down in prayer. This made Satan angry. Satan tried twice to mislead Ayub after losing his wealth by asking Allah for power to take away his c

Ettiquettesof conversation

Ettiquettes of conversation 1. Always speak the truth. Never hesitate in speaking the truth even at the greatest risk. 2. Speak only when you must, and always talk with a purpose. Too much talk and useless conversation betrays a lack of seriousness. Your are accountable before Allah for every word you utter. The Angel of Allah records. "A supervisor remains vigilant to preserve on record every speech that is uttered by his tongue." 3. Always speak politely. Wear a smile on your face and a sweet tone in your speech. Always speak in a moderate voice. Do not keep your voice so low as to be inaudible to the addressee, nor raise it so loud that the addressee might be over-awed by your voice. Allah affirms: "Surely! the harshest of all the voices is the voice of the ass." [31 : 19] 4. Do not spoil your tongue with dirty talk. Do not speak ill of others. Never indulge in backbiting. Do not complain against others. Never indulge in mimicking others to ridicule them. Do n

How can we get closer to Allah swt

Bismillah al-Rahman al-Rahim I found this article of Muhammad al-Shareef wherein he shared pointers from Ibn Qayyim, very beneficial. I was listening to a tape once and the shaykh was talking about stories and hadeeth dealing with children. One of the stories that he mentioned was about the Prophet sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam playing with children. The Prophet sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam was playing with Al-Husayn and then he raised him up for people to see and he said, “Allah will love those who love Al Husayn!” So it got me thinking of other lessons from the Qu’ran and Sunnah that can give us more ideas of how to we can have Allah subhaanahu wa ta’aala love us. Ibn Al-Qayyim rahimahullah actually wrote different ways we can gain Allah’s subhaanahu wa ta’aala love. One: We need to take advantage of the third portion of the night. The Prophet sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam said: “Every night Allah subhaanahu wa ta’aala comes down to the samaa’ ad- dunya and he calls out to the people,

Etiquettes of learning

Points of Benefit From Imam ibn al-Qayyim al-Jawziyyah Six Etiquettes of Learning There are six stages to knowledge: 1. Asking questions in a good manner. 2. Remaining quiet and listening attentively. 3. Understanding well. 4. Memorizing. 5. Teaching. 6. Acting upon the knowledge and keeping to its limits." Fruits of Humility One of the Salaf (Pious Predecessors) said: "Indeed a servant commits a sin by which he enters Paradise; and another does a good deed by which he enters the Fire." It was asked: How is that? So he replied: "The one who committed the sin, constantly thinks about it; which causes him to fear it, regret it, weep over it and feel ashamed in front of his Lord - the Most High - due to it. He stands before Allah, broken-hearted and with his head lowered in humility. So this sin is more beneficial to him than doing many acts of obedience, since it caused him to have humility and humbleness - which leads to the servant's happiness and success - to t

Controlling anger

Book by Sheikh Muhammed Salih Al-Munajjid A person may complain: “ I get very angry very quickly. If there is the slightest provocation, I quickly explode and start to break things, swear, curse and issue threats of divorce. This problem has caused me so much embarrassment, and has made most people hate me, even my wife and children and closest friends. What can I do to rid myself of this awful disease and extinguish this devilish fire?” Anger is a tendency that comes from the Shaytaan. Only Allaah knows how much evil and sin results from it. Hence Islam has a great deal to say about this negative characteristic and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) described remedies for ridding oneself of this problem and limiting its effects. These include the following: Seeking refuge with Allaah from the Shaytaan. Sulaymaan ibn Sard said: “I was sitting with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), and there were two men swearing at one another. One of them w

April Fool

Image
It may be "cool"…but its an unislamic practise of another fool! The Holy Quran says: "Truly Allah guides not one who transgresses and lies." [40:28] “Curse of Allah upon those who lie.” [3:61] Origins and History of April Fool Day There are differing opinions concerning how this day originated: Ø Some said it developed from the celebrations of spring at the equinox on March 21. Ø Some said that this innovation appeared in France in 1564 CE, after the introduction of a new calendar, when a person who had refused to accept the new calendar became the victim of some people who had subjected him to embarrassment and made fun of him, so he became a laughing-stock for others. Ø Some said that this innovation goes back to ancient times and the pagan celebrations connected to a specific date at the beginning of spring, so this is the remnant of pagan rituals. It was said that hunting in some countries was unsuccessful during the first d
