Sacred Month of Rajab

In the name of Allah, to whom belongs the dominions, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful. All praise is for Allah, the Most High, the Lord of the Worlds. Peace & Blessings be upon the Prophets of Allah, especially our Holy Prophet, Muhammad (sallallahu 'alaihi wa aalihi wa as-haabihi wa sallam). Alhamdullilah, we are in Rajab, one of the sacred months In Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim, the two [Imams] have related from the hadith of Abu Bakr (Allah be well pleased with him) that the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) gave a speech during the Farewell Pilgrimage, and during it said: Verily, truly time has revolved like the day on which Allah created the heavens and the earth! The year is twelve months, including four [that are] sacrosanct; three consecutive [months]: Dhu al-qa`da, Dhu al-hijja, and al-Muharram; and Mudhar’s Rajab which is between Jumada and Sha`ban. Rajab is the seventh month in the Islamic lunar calendar. This

On Arrogance,Humbleness and Inferiority

By Khalid Baig It has been called ummul-amradh , or the root of all sicknesses of the heart. Prophet Muhammad, Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam, warned that a person having even an iota of it in his heart will never enter paradise. This deadliest of all sins is kibr , or arrogance. No one likes arrogance --- in others. We never like a person who is haughty, too proud, or condescending. We detest a person who belittles us and has a huge ego. Similarly we love people who are humble, polite, and easy to talk to. We love people who give us respect and honor. Thus if we follow the principle of treating others the way we like to be treated, most of these problems might be cured. In reality, the treatment of ummul-amradh requires a deeper look. For that we need to appreciate the difference between adab or manners, on the one hand and akhlaq or morals on the other. While adab deal with one’s external disposition, akhlaq as defined by Islam deal with our inner thoughts, feeling, and attit

Dua to be often recited in Rajab & Shabaan

Bismillah Ar-Rahmaan Ar-Raheem We are into the sacred month of Rajab. Prophet{Sallal lahu alayhi wasallam} used to recite "ALLAHUMA BAARIK-LANA FI RAJABA WA-SHA'BAAANA WA-BAL-LIGHNA RAMADHAANA" - "O Allah, make the months of Rajab and Sha'ban blessed for us, and let us reach the month of Ramadan (i.e. prolong our life up to Ramadan, so that we may benefit from its merits and blessings)." We too, should take the opportunity of reading this dua, often in the months of Rajab and Sha'baan.

Adhaan

As'Salamu Alaikum wa Rahamatullahi wa Barakatuhu, The word adhaan in Arabic means announcing or proclaiming . In sharee’ah terminology it means announcing the time of prayer. Lets see how the Adha'an got started : Narrated by Abu Dawood, 499; classed as saheeh by Ibn Khuzaymah, 1/191 and Ibn Hibbaan, 4/572. al-Tirmidhi narrated that Imam al-Bukhaari deemed it saheeh, as it says in Sunan al-Bayhaqi, 1/390 It was narrated that ‘Abd-Allaah ibn Zayd said: When the Messenger of Allaah (sallal lahu alahi wasallam ) ordered that a bell should be made so that it could be struck to call the people to prayer, A man walked around me whilst I was sleeping [i.e., in a dream], carrying a bell in his hand. I said, “O slave of Allaah, will you sell this bell?” He asked, “What will you do with it?” I said, “We will call the people to prayer.” He said, “Shall I not tell you of something better than that?” I said, “Yes.” He said, “Say: Allaahu akbar, Allaah akbar, Allaahu akbar,

Etiquettes of differing in Islam

In the name of Allah, the Most-Merciful, the All-Compassionate "May the Peace and Blessings of Allah be Upon You" Islam has imposed high standards for how the Muslim who follows the methodology of the Prophetic Sunnah (tradition) should deal with his brother who has differed with him on an issue of 'Ijtihaad' (exercise of independent judgment in matters that have no specific mention in the Quran or Sunnah). How outstanding is the statement of the Messenger of Allaah : "Indeed I have been sent to perfect noble manners." [Reported by Al-Bukhaari in Al-Adabul-Mufrad] From these manners are: 1 - To have an open heart by accepting what comes to you when your Muslim brother points out some mistakes you have made, and to know that this is from sincere advice which he is giving to you as a gift for Allaah's sake. This is what is referred to as humility. Refusing to accept the truth and becoming angry as a result is actually from pride. Indeed, the most truthful

Naming the blog as Baseerath

As Salamu Alaikum Jazakumullah for most of your responses and appreciation. I shall take them as words of encouragement. One of the sisters-in-Islam, has asked me about the name of this blog, "Baseerath" {Baseerah} . Let me clarify that this name has nothing to do with my personal attachment to it. I chose this word for its meaning. Ayah :12: 108 of the Holy Qur'an, Say: This is my way, I call upon Allaah upon Baseerah (clear evidence, sure knowledge), I and whoever follows me and free is Allaah from all imperfections and I am not of those who associate partners with Allaah. [Yoosuf 12:108] The root of this word (baseerah) is from "dhuhoor" (visibility) and "bayaan" (elucidation). The Qur’aan consists of basaa’ir (pl. of baseerah), meaning evidences, guidance and elucidation which lead to the truth and guide to right conduct. It also means, "Insight'. Moreover, Baseerath was a programme telecasted , of Dr. Israr Ahmed, who's a very influe

Peace & Blessings be upon the Prophets of Allah, especially our Holy Prophet, Muhammad (sallallahu 'alaihi wa aalihi wa as-haabihi wa sallam). "Delusions of Dunya" "...The life of this world is nothing but an illusion." [al-Hadeed - 57:20] "With firm words, Allah makes the believers steadfast in the life of this world and in the hereafter; and Allah lets the wrongdoers go astray. Allah does what He pleases." [Ibrahim - 14:27] As Salamu 'alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu, A person deeply involved in this worldly life puts his faith on the apparent meanings. A man might think that wealth makes him strong, gives him status and adorns him. We think that the medicines we eat cure us. We think the food we eat keeps us alive otherwise we will die. Our deep involveme

Even a Smile

Bismillah Ar-Rahman Ar-Raheem All praise is for Allah swt, We praise Him and seek His help and forgiveness. We seek refuge in Allah swt from evil of ourselves and wickedness of our own deeds. Whomever Allah guides, cannot be lead astray and whomever Allah misguides none can guide him What do money, a good word and removing something harmful from the road have in common? Giving charity is such an important part of Islam that even the Arabic word tasaddaqa {to give charity} comes from the root sadaqa meaning to speak truth , to be sincere Sadaqah { voluntary charity} is different from zakah, the compulsory alms that are collected every year. A muslim shows his sincerity of faith and attains piety by being generous.: " Ye will not attain unto piety until ye spend of that which ye love. And whatsoever ye spend, Allah is aware thereof" - Al-Imran :92 There are many verses in the Qur'an in which Allah ta'ala tells muslims to give in charity. Sometimes this
"And the life of this world is nothing but play and amusement. But far better is the abode of the Hereafter for those have Taqwa. Will you not then understand!" - The Holy Qur'an
