Anger Management

One of the emotions which we humans hold is 'Anger'. This emotion has mostly negative impact over self as well as people around us. So it is very important to control anger. Islam is a complete religion and it does teach us how to control this emotion. It is the result of  inner agitation and desire for revenge.

There is a hadith wherein Prophet { Peace be on him}, adviced to control anger. Anger is a natural emotion, and we are guided through Quran and Sunnah to control it. .Anger lets us to regret later. But when we are angry, satan encourages us to extreme it and then act immoral in our anger

TYPES OF ANGER

There are two types of anger. The one which pleases Allah and the other which pleases satan

The anger which pleases Allah is natural human emotion which we humans have no control over it.

For instance, when the ummah of Musa alayhis salaam worshipped Idols, Musa was angry.

But when his people repented and returned to Allah, his anger subsided and Allah Himself consoled Musa.

The seerah of our Prophet (peace be on him) also shows some instances wherein the Prophet, used to get red with anger

All these depict that being angry in a moment does mean negligence in our relationship wuth Allah

The state where the anger gets its peak is termed as 'ghadab'. We have no control on ourselves then.

Anger is a weakness but people think of it as strength. Allah has advised us to repress our anger in all situations, no matter how testing they are. At this state we may do any inappropriate that for which we are accountable before Allah.

Hadiths of Prophet Muhammad,(peace be on him), refrained us in exchange of words, and hold our tongue when we are angry.

The prophetic hadiths also teach is to seek refuge from Allah, from satan when angry. We are also taught to sit when we are in a standing position in anger, of to lie down when in a sitting postition of anger. We can simply walk away from the place of agitation/disturbance

Repressing anger kills the situation that can get ugly very soon, and that is why Allah has prescribed it for us

Controlling anger is a sign of righteousness. A righteous person is promised paradise. So let us restrain our anger and not utter anything which cannot be taken back.

We should remember that even in state of anger, Allah is our witness. This shall help us to control our anger

From a fiqh perspective we learn that our prophet never intervened when two people argues with eacn other

This teaches us to give space when people are angry and on argumentative mode

We end it by the saying of Ali {RA} , Anger begins with madness and ends with regret'.

May Allah guide us to a path of righteousness and make us among His most pious people.
